BICC International Conference: Stabilization — For Whom and to What Ends?

Stabilization is currently regaining currency as a policy paradigm in international security, foreign and development policy. So-called stabilization efforts are directed particularly at regions that witness violent conflict or that are perceived to be at risk thereof. Under its umbrella, we find measures as diverse as direct military interventions, train and equip programmes for security forces, as well as development and humanitarian aid programmes. The conference aims to bring together practitioners and academics working on issues related to stabilization in contexts of violent conflict.
