It also formulates recommendations for the German government on how it can respond to worsening inequalities and political repression. PeaceLab in English A fresh look at peace and security “The COVID-19 pandemic is magnifying global problems.” In its statement, the Advisory Board makes the following recommendations to the German government: 1. Improve early warning for external shocks and enhance political coherence. 2. Protect particularly vulnerable groups and strengthen civil-society ownership. 3. Monitor and sanction state repression in response to the pandemic. 4. Use multilateral crisis-prevention instruments. The full statement can be found here. Veranstaltungsbericht Bericht: Jahreskonferenz des Beirats Zivile Krisenprävention und Friedensförderung Am 25. September lud der Beirat Zivile Krisenprävention und Friedensförderung zu seiner ersten Jahreskonferenz ins Auswärtige Amt ein. 180 bis 200 Teilnehmer*innen diskutierten die neuen Strategien der Bundesregierung zu Rechtsstaatsförderung, Sicherheitssektorreform und Vergangenheitsarbeit.
